Position: Research Assistant (Pre-Doc)
Description: CEMFI invites applications for one research assistant position to work in the project “Income Dynamics, Employment Dynamics, Fertility Decisions, and Cultural Norms: Implications for Gender Inequality and the Labor Market.”, funded by Spanish Ministry of Science and Universities research project (MCIU PID2024-158202NB-I00), and by the Grant (PHS-2024/PH-HUM-126 CLIMAD-CM) funded by Comunidad de Madrid, whose Principal Investigator is Tom Zohar.
Deadline: 31/10/2026
Duration: One year, with possibility 6 or 12 months extension.
Salary range: 10,000-12,500 euros gross a year. Full-time position.

Research Assistant Tasks:

- Construction and analysis of large administrative microdata (Dutch CBS, in CBS remote-access environment)
- Reduced-form quasi-experimental analysis (event studies, difference-in-differences, IV, RDD; matched employer-employee / AKM methods where relevant)
- Empirical work on gender, social norms, and labour-market outcomes
- Conduct literature reviews and assist the PIs in other aspects of the project.


Desired Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor or Master degree in economics or related fields.
- Strong quantitative skills.
- Knowledge of R and Stata.
- Excellent management and organizational skills.
- Meticulous, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Flexible, self-motivating, independent, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proficient in English. Knowledge of Spanish is not required.
- Strong interest in academic research.
- Previous experience as a research assistant will be valued.
- Able to legally work in the European Union.


Job conditions:

- Part-time position. 20 hours/week
- The job will be based at CEMFI facilities in Madrid.
- Salary: Between 10,000 and 12,500 EUR/year gross remuneration.
- Duration: One year from 1 November 2026, with the possibility of a 6- or 12-month extension.
