JEEA-Fundación BBVA 2024 Conference entitled ‘The Uncharted Seas of International Trade’.

On 10 December, the JEEA-Fundación BBVA 2024 Conference entitled ‘The Uncharted Seas of International Trade’ was held by Professor Pol Antràs (Harvard University). Hélène Rey (London Business School) participated in the debate as discussant and Rafael Repullo (CEMFI) as chair.

Pol Antràs reviews recent developments in the field, while outlining new potential areas of research, including the more prominent role of oligopolistic behaviour of firms in international trade patterns, as well as more active cross-pollination with other branches of the economy. It also addresses the potential role of big data and artificial intelligence in shaping the causes and consequences of international trade flows and trade policy design.
